    Handsome NZ Native. Stately straight and erect trunk has smooth brown bark. Eventually grows into a large canopy tree. Small flowers appear in panicles in spring followed by attractive purple fruit in autumn which are the favourite of the Native Kereru pigeon. Likes rich deeply worked well drained soil. Can attain 15-20m in ideal conditions at maturity.  Apx  7 x 4m 10yr

    Cordyline australis - Cabbage Tree Cabbage tree: An iconic New Zealand palm like tree. Long drooping slender leaves up to 1m long are clustered at the tips of the branches. Large heads of scented creamy white flowers in Nov produce nectar for bees, then fruit attracts birds from January-April. Commonly found throughout farmland, open places, wetlands and scrubland of the North and South Islands in anything from wet swampy ground to dry windy hill slopes. Hardy.

    A reasonably fast growing, handsome coastal canopy tree. Large green tropical-looking leaves up to 40cm. Naturally found throughout the North Island in coastal forest. Kohekohe stands out for its distinctly tropical traits, with flowers and fruit emerging directly from its trunk and branches. From March to June, elegant, waxy white blossoms. Grows to apx 10 x 4m in 10 yrs but can attain 15m at maturity.

    At last a Lilly Pilly that is highly psyllid resistant!  A superior cultivar of Syzygium Australe, more commonly known as a Lilly Pilly. This unique variety is new to the NZ market and is solely available through Black Bridge Nurseries and Boulevard and Boutique. Selected propagation has improved this variety of Lilly Pilly making it resistant to the very problematic psyllid insect and the damage it causes. Its also faster growing, has a stronger, straighter central leader and an improved root system. We’ve also found it to be good in shady areas as well. Excellent for screening, hedging and shaping.
